Join a Taster Session

If you are a relative beginner or have never paddled, then our Taster Sessions are a great way to try out different craft in a supportive environment.

You will get the opportunity to try various craft such as a sea kayak (a long boat), a whitewater kayak (a short boat), a crossover (a medium boat), an open canoe, a sit-on-top kayak (SOT) and a paddleboard (SUP).

The cost of a Taster Session is £10

This includes boat and equipment hire. We provide the equipment (helmet, buoyancy aid and spray deck).

How to book a Taster Session

These run on specific Wednesday Club Nights in the Summer (April to September) and in the pool on a Friday night during the Winter months (October to March).

You will need to sign up to the Paddle UK using the JustGo system which is free, you can watch the  video on how to do this on the JustGo page here. It doesn’t take long but we do need your details before you book as we need certain information from you. This is done by creating a Paddle UK account and then associating yourself with the club.

If you are an experienced kayaker you are welcome to join one of our sessions, but again you need to sign up via Paddle UK using the JustGo system and book a "£10 - Taster'.

We will then contact you to arrange for you to join us on a suitable session.

What do I need to bring if I join a Taster Session?

• A Smile
• Appropriate clothing like a wetsuit or cag.
• Suitable footwear such as old trainers or wetsuit boots.
• If you plan on bringing your mobile phone bring a waterproof phone case.

If you have a car and roofrack that will really help to transport your kayak if necessary. If you don't have one we will help if we can. (We usually manage this but can't promise).
