Club History

“Teignbridge Canoe Club believes in respect for our members, our community and our environment. That every member can be themselves, grow and develop as they wish, to be inspired, to find their adventure, to progress their skills, where our sport is accessible for all in a safe, supportive and fun club community….this is our Club”.

The Club was formed in 1984 https://teigncanoe.org.uk

The Club’s membership at the AGM in October 2024 was 133.

The Club’s first constitution was adopted by the club members on 12th July 2008 (current version is dated November 2008).

This constitution defines key club rules including the election of the committee at the annual AGM.

The committee comprises key officers including a Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary.

Other key Committee responsibilities include Equipment, Club House, Safety, Safeguarding and Social events.

The Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) - Registered with HMRC on 15th September 2008.

  • October 2021 was awarded BC Quality Club status
  • October 2022 was awarded Champion Club CACW and Champion Club Talent status
  • December 2023 was awarded Shepaddles club status
